Recent 330D M-Sport Touring Purchase
Morning Will Welcome to the Forum A very nice looking motor, the brakes though !! That rotor looks like its been parked under water the inner half of the rotor looks thinner (if it isn't an illusion) possibly the calliper is or has been binding. I would check all the suspension bushes front and rear as my experience is their life is 80 to 100k. I am half way through a suspension rebuild on my X5 3.0d at the moment Brakes I changed last year. My brother inlaw has always run 5 touring's as his business car, on his 6th now (2nd 540d) he has all his cars stage 1 mapped from new all his cars have been run to 150k+ without any dramas. So I say work through the niggles and ENJOY Dave -

Complete Electrical shut-down after Key-fob issue..??
Hi, I'm newhere and have obtained my first BMW (old 2005 Touring 525i). Iwas using it for 3 days when the alarm went off at 4am in the morning. I went to shut it off but the key had no affect whatsoever and using the key in the doors did nothing. After about 5 or 6 cycles of the alarm going it finally stopped. So I got in the car and tried the key in the ignition. At first I just got a load of 'clicking' sounds with flickering dashboard lights when trying the key but after a few attempts the whole car went completely and utterly dead?? The battery did not seem weak at the time so I am really baffled as to whats gone on. I did read that if you attempt to start the car with a dodgy Fob a certain amount of times the car will shut-down or something (?) but I can find no evidence of this elsewhere or what I can do to get power back etc.. I have sent the Fob off for repair (due back today) as it did not even have a battery inside the Fob!! The car had been running perfectly for 3 days before this happened..any ideas on my situation or what has happened would be brilliant and any cure to get things back-up and running would leave me eternally grateful guys? Gary. -

X5 Xdrive 40e HybridGearbox rough
Update: Following Dave's suggestion that I look at the transfer box as the source of my problems, dropped the car into a transmission specialist. He scanned to car and no faults were logged. He checked the fluid in the transfer box and noticed some metal in the oil. He's going to drop the transfer box and test it further and if it can be repaired then well-and-good, otherwise its a new one to be shipped in from The Netherlands. (Would have been the UK but brexit.... etc.,etc.,). He cautioned me against looking for a used box from a scrapyard - not worth the risk, soby the end of next week I should be on the road again. I've asked his to change the oil in both diffs while he's at it - in for a penny.... -
