Always use Confused.com or Go Compare. They both have a huge amount of insurers on board. My last quote on the former revealed over 35 insurers quotes, all with differing options.

You also see what you get with these outfits. You can play around with adding or deducting extras until your hearts content. All live and in front of you while you do it.

Your first time around, the insurer will “buy” your business with a hefty discount. All you need do is re-broke your insurance next year. Another insurer will be far cheaper than your renewal, and off you go again.

The loyalty thing - staying with one insurer for a long time – is, frankly, b0ll0cks. There are no benefits. Existing policyholders pay for discounted new customers. It’s called “cross subsidy” and it has been around for a long time.

A note about Auto Renew: All companies tend to use this now. They say it resolves you forgetting to renew your insurance. Reality is, it benefits them. Many fools just let their cover roll over without re-broking their deal. I always send an email the minute I have incepted a policy, asking them to remove auto renew.
