Hi all, Need some help. 

So I decided to buy a e46 318i however I'm starting to regret that I did. It's 04 plate 80k on clock. 

There is a strange rattle that seems to be coming from the outside. Sounds very mettalic like heat shield touching when driving. More noticeable over bumps. I've had it in the garage for a full service however they couldn't find what the issue was. They had it on the ramps and checked all the obvious things. Heat shield, exhaust etc. Brake pads, calipers look OK. I've ordered new pads, discs anyway to rule that out. Just baffling me at the minute. Has anyone heard of this before. It's my first BMW so I'm not used to common issues etc. Thanks.

    Hi Craig....welcome to the Forum

    It sounds like it could be an anti-roll bar link or suspension bush if it is making a knocking/deep rattling sound.

    If it is just a light metallic rattle then it could be brake pads rattling because the fitting kit is incomplete.

    Would have to hear it to determine further.
