Hi, I'm looking to buy this - BMW 5 SERIES 3.0 530i SE Touring 5dr. It has done 175000 miles but has a full service history and a full MOT. It is an automatic. It is for sale for£1500. What do people think? I do about 10,000 miles a year mainly short journeys. My people carrier has blown up (diesel turbo gone) and my wife just said get whatever you want, yay! Are autos of this age reliable? Any tips on looking at it? Should I even look at it or do you have any other suggestions? Looking for a petrol due to the nature of my use. Always wanted a BMW but I don't know much about them mechanically etc. Thanks for any help.

Dave -  six cylinder units are lovely engines so you'll get the proper BMW experience.

To be honest it's an older car now with a lot of miles so I would say service history is key. Providing it's been looked after then I see no reason it can't be a decent car for you
