Really need help please. Our X5 seems starts up fine from cold. But after a long run just cranks and won't start. I work at a garage and then mechanics have tried to diagnose there problem. Diagnostic came up with a glow rail issue. So far have had low pressure fuel pump replaced. Crank shaft sensor replaced. Cam shaft sensor replaced. Glow plugs replaced. Still there. Drives fine just will not start after a long run. Any ideas? Bit lost here

I have a friend who has a 530d he had a similar problem he discovered if he turned the key to ignition on waited 30secs all dash lights out it started. He had gone through a similar saga changed most things ie, fuel pump relay, cam sensors, crank sensor etc and the fault persisted.

Finally when at the garage he demonstrated his start technique while the garage monitored the fuel pressure, while he was at ignition on they could see the fuel pressure rising. The conclusion was the fuel pump was on its way out taking some time to reach pressure. Not cheap to fix but it did cure the problem,

Update. Changed the lift pump in fuel tank, not cheap and not cured. Next is injector test. Code remains low pressure to fuel rail.
