Hello all,

Bought an E61 from a BMW dealer late Feb 15. 2009 LCI 525D M Sport Business Edition, with Pano Roof.

Had a few issues, got them sorted with my local dealer in Scotland, as bought the car in England.

Wednesday, after a small journey, fault in the self level suspension came up, then shortly after the PDC failed.

Called BMW in the morning to get someone to come out. Full BMW warranty on the car.

In the process of trying to open the car on Thursday morning, the dash came up with complete electronic failure. Battery ran out, car couldn't lock, dash was dead.

When BMW tech came out from rescue, looked at the car, went into the boot, took the trim off, wet underneath the boot floor, and the LHS of the car at the rear, then when the trim came out, water sitting in the electrics. Fried modules and relays. PDC and Self Levelling being some of them. Also a large silver metallic piece, which looks like an amp (was told perhaps Bluetooth).

Put charge into the battery enough to get the car recovered to main dealer last night.

Tech stated that water was coming in on LHS of the car, via the flaps which are there to allow air to circulate into the car. RHS ones, no water.

He also said that the seal looked good.

Main dealer today saying seal has failed, water ingress, fried the electrics, loom needs replaced, along with all of the relays, and components.

£1500 of components/loom and about £800 or so of labour, plus VAT.

And, yes, you guessed it, they are blaming the seal, and saying it is not covered by warranty.

Don't have the best part of £3K to repair this.

Bought the car as I felt buying BMW and AUC was safe. Not expecting a £3K bill within 5 months of ownership.

Had asked the selling BMW dealer to ensure that there was no water ingress, and that the seals in the boot were good, they obviously never checked. Had asked in writing.

One of the relays, was clearly very corroded and rusted, all brown, so not something new that had happened.

What can I do?

Any help or advice is and would be majorly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Andrew
