Hi all. New to forum but need advice

Just brought an x3 msport 2.0d. So far had to have a clutch and maybe a turbo but what I need avose on is the 4x4 system.

When the garage fitted clutch and flywheel they notice a plug was disconnected on the gearbox/transfer box. There are no warning lights which is strange. Can anyone tell me why this has been done and will the abs and stability still be active and also why no warning lights.

Thanks in advance

Jamie

First was it a private or trade sale? If you brought from a garage then you have the Sale of Goods Act on your side. The supplying garage either fix the defects or you ask for your money back.

Private sale it may be more difficult.

It was from a dealer but if I ask him to repair it he may fit second hand parts and do a bodge job. I am trying to get a sum of money from him for which he has agreed to to help with repairs. Car has been in the garage and now transpires it needs turbo and 4 injectors. Another 2k. My view is once it's all fixed what else can go wrong and should be right for many years.

Problem with buying any modern diesel car is the bits I'm fixing can go wrong at any point so spending more doesn't guarantee a total reliablility if you know what I mean.

Is there a time scale for sales of goods act

Thanks for the reply

You say the car is in the garage? Is that the dealer who you brought from? Or is it another?

If the original dealer hasn't agreed to the repairs you may have an issue.

You say it went in for a new fly wheel and clutch was that with the dealer? Again I think if it wasn't with their knowledge you may have a problem.

As I understand it you should have gone straight back to the dealer and either asked for your money back, or asked the dealer to repair all faults or pay for them to be done.

I would ask Citizens Advice
