My wife's 318i has an intermittant problem where the ingnition light comes on when she is driving.When this happens the car also hesitates as if it is going to cut out.

She noticed it started to happen after the car went in for some minor body repairs.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

It could be as simple as the garage not reconnecting the battery properly. I would start there as that is the ssimplest and cheapest possibility.

If you have an OBDII reader (If you don't i suggest you pick one up. Any one will do. Cheap too), get the fault code. With the code, it should give you/us a head start on diagnosing the problem.

Any suggestions are simply a guess without formally investigating the issue in person.

Bruce DOES have an excellent suggestion though. During the body work, they may of used a welding machine. Is so, they would of disconnected the battery.
