318I Electrical Fault - How Serious Can It Be?

Hi there,

How's it going? I'm new so please excuse me if this has been said already.

I brought a 318i SE 115k yesterday, drove it around 100 miles back home and no problems. Started it today and the EML light comes on after a little drive, then the amber engine light, followed by handbrake, ABS and Traction Control. But once my car has cooled down they go again and after around 15min driving they come back on.

It has never felt down on power and handles fine, it has a full BMW service history and only 1 previous owner. When I went to view the car I left the engine running and gave it some beans on the test drive and no issues.

Took it to my local garage for a check and it came up blank, he reset the errors but they came back, again after a drive. He thinks it might be either ECU or faulty ABS pump (?) and suggested no sharp braking!

Electrical faults can be costly to diagnose so I was wondering if anyone has had anything similar and might be able to point me in the right direction.

    Do the opposite !! Give the ABS something to do :rolleyes: If it works as it should then thats eliminated eh?
