Hi All

I thought i would pop on here and say hi,

I currently do not own a BMW however i am looking to buy a 5 series E60 within the next 2 weeks. So i have been having a look on here for some advice, etc. I have a budget of £7k but may be able to go higher to £8k (maybe). Now what model am i looking for?? i have no idea, i was originally looking at a 520d (177) or just a 520d basically because they are economical i really want an M-Sport model, but i am a little worried that they will be under powered being a big car and a 2.0L, but i really want something that is good MPG, i mainly do commuting to work up and down the A1, its a 56 mile daily commute. I have considered a 3 series but i am really drawing to the 5 series so i think my mind is set on that.

Can anyone offer any help and advice or experience of the 520d or if you would recommend another model, is there anything i should watch out for (i would love one fully loaded) i know i dont want much haha..

Insurance is a small issue, i am having to take a special policy out because my 9 years NCB is almost 3 years old (in november it will be 3 years old) so a lot of places wont accept it (adrian flux will in a fashion) and i have been driving a company vehicle for the past 3 years, so if anyone can offer any advice on this matter i would be interested to hear as well.

I look forward to hearing from everyone and i will soon be paying for full membership and getting involved with the forum and club

Many Thanks

Chris

Hiya Chris I'm not far from you ;)

I think I can speak for the masses here and say go for the 530d, more power with similar economy... To get the best out of it would mean a Re-Map so budget for that too, you won't regret it ;)

Go for one with ALL the toys !

Hi Jack

Thanks for your kind reply, where a outs are you based? I'm on the boarder of South Yorkshire nearest town about 5 miles away is Gainsborough..

I would love to consider at 530D but the fuel, tax and insurance costs scare the living death out of me, do you drive a 530D? I assume the remap improves power as well as MPG? Do you have experience of this? My budget to be honest isn't the best it would be £8k max at a push but closer to the £7k would be better ;-)

I have been trawling all the usual places for 4 weeks and I'm struggling I've not even looked at one yet, may be I have to high standards but I'm definitely wanting fully loaded and an M-Sport.

If you can offer any suggestions, links, recommendations PLEASE do because I'm going nuts with looking.. I'm a worrier and an analyser so I worry about everything down the fine detail ;-)

Thanks again

Chris

Don't be put off by the 3 litre Diesel bud... 7k would get you a nice motor with cash to spare for a remap @200+/-...

Where have you looked?

BTW I'm classed as in Barnsley but just as near to Doncaster !
