Hello :-)

I've owned a lot of cars.... However this is my first BMW, first rear wheel drive aaand first automatic!

Not too sure what I think to the new driving style yet, I don't feel 100% safe pulling out of corners etc because of the lag and to drive in sports mode all the time rinses my fuel :-/ We'll see though.

My other car atm is an astra cabbie but she has been put into storage until the sun shines again. I love the drive from the astra and I hope the beemer can beat that when I get used to it.

Any common problems on a 2001 318ci se, model specific??

Thanks Sherrie

A poor combination by BMW standards, Auto with a four-potter :(

I'm sure we can get some oomph out of it between us all !

Welcome aboard ;)

Hey Sherrie,

As Jack-Spanner said, the torque converter takes ages to transfer the power to the ar*se of the car and the 4 cylinder engine you have doesn't help. Manual tran would suit your set up much better.

You'll get used to pulling away with the auto-tran surprisingly quickly. There is much stigma attached to auto transmissions but, once you have owned one you learn to love um  most bad rep comes from people who have never had one you see...

Common problems? This is the BMWOC bible of such topic:
