Turbo Life

Hi guys I'm a little concerned about some conflicting information, twice now I've read about changing your oil and filter every 8-10 thousand miles as a answer to a question in the latest copy of straight six mag, this is to prevent carbon build up in side the turbo and shorting its life considerably not mentioned in the bmw service book or schedule , Is this for oldish turbos or all turbos my F10 has only done 24000 as yet and serviced at 18000 as per the service intervals. So should I change oil in couple of thousand miles, I intend to keep my baby for a long time so the future is quite important. So over to you. Regards Chippy

Guest Mister Dabsy

For ALL matey... They are a "Critical" component to the running of an engine that requires one !

The more often you change the oil, the longer it will survive !!!

They overheat if the oil has "passed" its usefulness, frags in the oil will shorten its life ;)

If I ever get the chance to get a newer turbo car, I will endeavor to change the oil bi-monthly !!!
