Broken Convertible, Possible Pump

Hi folks

Any help would be welcome.

I brought a 2003 BMW convertible for what i assumed was good value with 75k on the clock, the garage knocked off £300 as what they said was the pump needed replacing for the convertible roof to work accordingly.

The problem is when you push for the roof to fold down, it only comes down about 6 inches then stops, you can physically push it down and pull back up against its will.

BMW quoted around £1200 if that is the problem, £145 just to look.

Can anyone advise anywhere or know anyone in the Norwich area that may help.

Thanks
