just to add to this post the car has developed the spluttering and low power again but if the engine is turned off and re started it stops for a few miles .....anyone know what is causing this??? thank you

ive had a problem with my 320ci for a few days .first the engine light came on then went off.it came back on and stayed on then I took my kids to school this morning and had the symtems of fuel problems ,spluttering ,low power etc I rang my local garage and booked it in for a diagnostic check when I ran it down there it was back to normal but engine light still on .I had the fault codes readand 4 faults showed up all miss fire codes they cleared all faults and light went off but an hour ago I went out in it and the eml is back on but the car runs fine????? any ideas on whats wrong thanks

glad to say it passed ....so by pulling fuse 10 out to knock out the seatbelt light actually works for M O T a big thank you to grey dog for his help in this matter

hi ive only got 2hrs before my mot ...the thing is I removed fuse 10 to disable seat belt warning light on dash which is a failure ,in doing so the cruise control light comes on and stays on ...anyone know if this is a failure??? thank you

if I add an arm rest to my e46 coupe do I need to replace the whole centre console ??thanks

mine was 18 from Halfords - the the steering controls

as it happens I changed the head unit today from a factory unit to a new unit and all I can say is there isn't mutch space behind for adaptor harness and its knocked out the steering controls ,I couldn't find a centre mount either but to be honest the one I got from Halfords looks as it should be there I even managed to get a head unit with red LED to match the rest of the dash don't forget to buy an antenna adaptor as well

this happened on another car of mine and it was trackrod ends if it helps

no m8 im just going to suck up the bill on this one im just glad to hear the auto box and engine are in good condition

im in devon and the garage is in the midlands and it might get messy with times and travel

I recently purchased an e46 53 plate from a garage and it seemed not to be quite right so I took it to an independent bmw specialist <padock motors devon> and there results were

faulty driver seat tensioner -50 quid plus vat

alternator belt worn-56 quid plus vat

front wishbonerear mounts 135 quid plus vat

rear trailing armbushes worn 105 quid plus vat

rear diff bush split needs replacing no quote as yet

reasonable pricing or not?? thanks

I originally took it in because it appeared a bit flat compared to my 180k ,they said it performs as it should and there is no comparison to a 180k as all 320 models are a little flat!!!

very noob question but ...is it possible to see the level of the transmition fluid by dip stick or other on my 320 auto thank you

thanks for the reply and yes ill take it to a garage tomorrow and suck up an hours labour ive just located a bmw specialist in my town Exmouth so ill take it in thanks again

I recently got a 320 2.2 coupe 53 reg auto and after driving it for a few days have noticed that when I dip the accelerator the revs seem to climb high without any real push behind them it seems to go through the gears without searching but no real boost ive never driven one of these cars before and am comparing to a 180k auto box should it be very responsive to the pedal?or is this normal as ive got a 3months warranty with it I want to sort this out asap many thanks jon

hey guys and girls just joined up and bought my first bmw 2.2 coupe and well pleased with it i also run a merc coupe and got to say the bmws got the edge!! glad to be here for some info and chat
