  1. 08 mini cooper s , 35k, on the clock.timing CHAIN snapped asked BMW for a goodwill gesture towrds repair. told to take it to my local dealership for diagnosis. THEY stated that it was low on oil so could not help , wanted £1000 to just strip it down . Car had service last feb 2013 , non bmw as we had bought it from Arnold Clark and had free service on it on their plan. If it was low on oil why no warning light where has the oil gone,no leak and no burning of oil bmw service in 2012 when it was recalled due to a fault with the water pump how do they know it only had just under a litre in it without draining it DONT BELIEVE THEM Apparently , so BMW say , it was recalled in 2011 as there was a fault with the tensioners , before we had the car DONT BELIEVE THEM EVERONE I HAVE SPOKEN TO , MECHANICS ETC HAVE STATED THAT NO WAY SHOULD IT HAVE SNAPPED THIS IS FROM THE BREAKDOWN MAN TO THE MECHANIC WHOSE GARAGE THE CAR IS NOW AT. I WILL BE CONTACTING WHICH MAGAZINE AND SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ALL BMW WANTED TO DO WAS CHANGE THE ENGINE AS ITS EASIER THAN REPAIRING VALVES ETC
