  1. Hey guys,

Quite recently I've been experiencing a weird problem that has only happened about 4 times over the course of maybe 2 months?

After I brake quite hard from about 50+, so just as soon as I let off the brakes, I feel a strange vibration through the steering wheel, as if something is tangled round my wheel or like I'm dragging an elephant along the road, and you can definitely here something outside from possibly the front left? Followed by an extremely loud screeching noise! Then everything seems fine again.

On a quick inspection, there's nothing out of the ordinary... however when you kick the tyre, you can hear a metal rattle which is probably from the brake dust shield?

Does anyone have an idea of what my problem might be?

    Thanks,

    Richard :)

  2. Hello,

This is a similar problem to what I had, all mine were clicking but there was still a constant beep all the time.

This is by far the cheapest solution! Go to your local breakers and grab a couple of parking sensors from your model if you can, if not then perhaps a similar BMW from that time period if it'll fit? Someone will have to confirm this.

Anyways, just swap them out one by one because until you've replaced the faulty one. Then you can just spray over it if it isn't the correct colour! :D

  3. I heard somewhere that the more expensive fuel contains additives that cleans your engine, much the same as the Redex stuff.

But then again I've also heard that stuff like Redex has no effect.

There has to be something in BP ultimate that justifies the increase of over 25 pence per litre over their normal fuel

Personally I don't see a big difference, but I'd like to think my car loves me more for treating her to something a bit more expensive :P

    Richard :)

  4. Hey guys,

A bit of a short notice but there's a large car meet coming up this Sunday!

There's over 1000 people from all over the north west who have already confirmed and they're hoping for 2000+ cars there, so it should be insane!

The meet is in Wigan and you can sign up and find out more on the Facebook page :)

Hope to see some of you good people there :D

    Richard :P

  5. Hello Richard :P And welcome to the club!

I think it could be the passenger seat mat. Instead of emptying your wallet at BMW, most people tend to get a bypass module off ebay. I think you just plug it in and use a code reader to erase the error.

  6. I'm 19 years old and I've been driving for 2 years accident free... in fact a large proportion of my friends have been driving without a problem at all! But yet we're still getting the blame for the majority of accidents! It really is just a minority of young drivers who are having the accident.

There has been a few accidents around my area since I've passed... 8 of which were caused by the same 3 people, so statically it's still classed as us young drivers.

Of course there are a higher number of fatalities at our age, have you seen the type of cars people are driving then they first pass? Like the old Vauxhall Corsa, Citroen Saxo, etc... they clearly lack the safety equipment such as the number of airbags, ABS, traction control that we'd find on newer cars! I'm not saying that it's a substitute for bad driving but if you know that the under 21's are the most likely to have an accident, then why not decrease the premiums for newer and safer cars like the new VW polo, Ford Fiesta, or the Peugeot 208, which are much, much safer! Sure, they are worth a lot more but with aids to prevent accidents in the first place and more importantly the severity of crashes, don't you guys think that's better in the long run?

As for the tachograph, I'd prefer to have one of them dash cams as well as a tracker fitted to reduce premiums. I'm not too keen on being monitored 24/7 as well as having curfews.

Since insurance is compulsory, these companies are taking advantage of it... I mean how is it that my quotes can range from £800 to over 15k?! It's ridiculous!! Like Aaron I'm going to pay about £6k purely on insurance for these 3 years... that's the same as me throwing my car away every year...

  7. Erm... personally I would have gone for one in a better condition. All the issues can be fixed but any bigger problems could cost a fortune (more than what the car's worth) from BMW.

When I started driving mine, I went in for a service and it ended up costing over a grand and that was only for brakes, 2 brake discs, hand brake, and typical service checks.

Not sure about the heating element, but with the cold air, a simple air-con re-gas should do the trick (if I'm correct haha). I re-gased mine and it pretty much has a blizzard coming out :P

As for the more technical stuff I'm not that sure about I'm afraid :(

Did you look through all the service booklets and all that stuff? I mean if it's been well maintained then all you need to do is give it some good old fashion TLC :)

They're lovely cars to drive and once you get yours in top condition again I'm sure you'd feel the same, but it'll cost you!

    Richard :)
