  1. awesome - good looking motor you have there.... i was looking for 2.5td when i came across my 2.8 petrol  B)

welcome - this is a great site for picking up a little knowledge, key for us firt time beemer owners ;)

  2. im pretty sure im going to have to change mine... it sounds like something has come off inside the drum. scrapes quite loudly and stops when the handbrake is applied... the handbrake effectiveness is probably about 2%  so i need to investigate further me thinks ...

  3. hi guys.

im feeling the need to upgrade to leather seats.

i have found a set out of a 1996, 5 door tourer, and was planning to fit these in my 1995 4 door saloon - the guy selling them seem concerned they wont fit?? will i have trouble with the rear seats??

    thanks in advance guys...

    Rick

  4. hiya Kath!

well, you are a woman after my own heart... i too am a man of VW background, having owned many retro and modified dubs... so you are in good company :D

i became a daddy nearly 6 months ago, and gave in to family pressure, and opted for something more suitable for family life... ive harboured a secret love for another german motor for a long time... :D

so now, i have best of both. i have a VW project tucked away (for when i get those extremely rare days i actually have time to tinker) and the beemer as my everyday car - and so far all is well :D

  5. alright boys and girls

all i want to know from the people who service their own vehicles, where do you generally tend to buy your engine / gearbox / final drive oil and filters etc etc from??

what oil is best suited to my 2.8 E36? i popped in halfords, and the chart suggests either 10/40 semi synth, or mobil 5/40 fully synth

    what do you guys suggest?

    cheers

  6. :D cheers guys, i have to say, its a little cracker! its got lots of extras (i wasn't expecting) too - the guy selling, really under sold it... im glad it was me who spotted it :)

some of these maybe standard, bare with me - lol

    leather steering wheel

    grey velour seats

    headlight washers (missing one lol)

    auto tint rear view mirror

massive boot wing & brake light

    trip computer - fuel consumption/ext temperature/trip etc

x4 electric windows and elec sunroof

    'green' performance air filter

stainless steel system exhaust (which sounds lovely with the throbbing 6 cyl engine)

BMW factor fitted alarm, keyfob operated central locking etc

and a pretty good amount of old receipts and MOTs

and appears to be a shade lower than my mates 318, the stance is nice...

im sure there is other bits and bobs too...

thanks for the kind words though guys, there are 2 shape of beemer i really like, the e36 and e30 really do it for me...
