  1. Hi all, My front drivers side shock needs replacing, front passenger side also has a small leak, back left spring is weak. So best bet is new shocks and springs all round. The front shocks are part of the hub, all the needed bits - hubs/shocks/springs/mounts are well over £3k + labour from bmw. Just not financially feasible. Iv sourced the springs and shocks for £700 from an after market parts shop (mounts have to come from BMW). However not sure if this comes with the hubs (will be calling to check tomorrow as its Sunday today). If hubs are included then problem sorted. However if not then back to sq one. Also doesn't make much sense how the dealer can sell the front shocks for an 8 without the hub as they have to come together but that's another matter. The option is to source from breakers, iv found one who is breaking a H reg 850 and an L reg 840. Does any one know if the parts from 8's of these yrs fit my R reg? im sceptical about the 850 as is a V12 so will probably be different, but what about the H reg? Also does anyone have any recommendation/opinions re getting suspension from breakers? Thanks
  2. quite a late update - apologies totally forgot. got comprehensive cover for £607.00, which is a lot higher than everyone else but extremely competitive for my area, age and type of car. better then £1800.00 which was the cheapest I was getting elsewhere. with classic line - they recognise the 8 series as a classic car. cant build ncb with it though and limited to 5k miles annually.
  3. Hi All! Im new to this forum and have joined as the result of a dilemma, insurance on my 8 is extortionate now and im on the verge of selling as I can not afford to insure. I have heard there is an insurance company that recognises the 8 series as a classic car (which means a cheap premium) - does anyone have any idea of the name of this company?
