  1. Hi all, I've had a recurring engine light on my 2008 320i coupe. I've been advised that the vanos is the problem and needs replacing. They've also advised replacing the timing chain whilst everything's exposed. They've quoted around £1500 all in. Not knowing much about the cost of these things, I was hoping some kind soul on the forum could let me know if this sounds reasonable? Thanks in advance
  2. Well that's what I call freaky! I just noticed that my 2008 320i m sport coupé sits about 10mm lower on the right than the left when washing it this weekend. I came on here to ask if anyone new what the cause could be and I found this thread! :) Does anyone have any idea why? I'm not getting any noises or issues when driving, just scared the hell out me when i noticed it. Any suggestions for a cure? Thanks in advance ;)
  3. Side lights is the right answer! I switched them on and took a really good look and what do you know, a very faint glow! Seem a bit pointless really, the halos put out far more light! Does appear to have enough room behind to fit a couple of stingers though! :-) Sorry to have had such a blonde moment on you all (I'm not really blonde though - just proves it can happen to anyone!) sorry again, and thanks for pointing out I'm a bit dim - like my side lights ;-)
  4. I'll sort out a pic tomorrow. It would really useful to have missiles, now there's an extra I'd tick the box for!
  5. The halos come on when you switch the sidelights on. The tubes appear to have projector lenses and full size bulbs in them - it's all a bit of a mystery really as I've never seen them on
  6. Hi all, I've got a 2008 3 series coupe 2 litre m sport and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the second set of spot lights on! When I say second set of spots, I mean the two lights, one either side, next to the normal headlights. They don't appear to come on when I flick to full beam, or when I switch the fogs on. Any help would be gratefully received and thanks in advance
  7. Cheers! That was my thought too, didn't know if anyone had problems doing it! Thanks again :)
  8. Hi All, looking for a bit of guidance :) I recently bought an 08 3 Series M sport Coupe, which I love! However a week or so after I bought it the headlight washer had disappeared on the drivers side. After a bit of looking into it I found that this is not that unusual  for them to pop off during operation. My question is this - Is there a way to stop the headlight washers working? I found the fuse but thats the same as the windscreen washer so thats no good. I've got replacement plate for the hole which I want to glue into place, as I think headlight washers are a bit of a waste of time, but would prefer it if they didn't work as I don't want to waste washer fluid all the time. Any help or thoughts gratefully received. Thanks in advance :)
  9. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :) The more I see the 325, the more I think I need it in my life!
  10. Hi Everyone, I bought my wife a 120d last year, and she's delighted with it, and to be fair I'm impressed with the economy and the car overall. Now i'll be absolutely honest with you - but before we bought it, I was a bit resistant to the brand for one reason or another  but the 1 series has changed my mind  Now I'm in the position to be buying a new (albeit used) car, and I have seen a 2006 325i SE Coupe which I really like the look of. The questions are 1: are they any good? bearing in mind I like a spirited drive but I'm no senna, and secondly, how realistic is the 33mpg combined fuel consumption? Thanks in advance :)
