  1. Hard lines mate.its nae fun on the Rock and Roll. Hope something else comes along soon
  2. I was once told BMW were a quality product,so only used quality materials, hence price. It was BMW customer service that informed me of this. No sure if I still believe in fairies.
  3. The more I drive the old e38 the better i am liking it,went through a phase where I was toying with a 320 clk. Drove a few they were pretty good to but all were rusty. That's how I ended up with my big toy. Now wishing I had looked for the 4 litre.
  4. Stockcars no been for ages but had a superb weekend of Scottish English and Irish mechanical violence
  5. I think all vehicles should have a mot if on the public road. Emissions could be problem with but I am sure the bods at whitehall can sort it out.
  6. Italian cafe raspberry ripple gets my steering wheel sticky
  7. Drinking and driving is not acceptable in anyway. When I was younger life revolved around numerous pubs, as long as you never hit or injured anyone the local bobbys used to turn a blind eye. I once ended up on a back garden with an old sunbeam, lost a viva (locks and barrel goosed) to mates who every time they were foo thought it was funny to hide it. Broke my left foot once used the company I worked for cortina 2000 auto (that could use fuel) well I wasn't able to walk to the pub. Never touch a drop if I am driving nowaday. Used up all my luck in the old days.
  8. Car only comes second to my devoted alsation who never moans no matter how oily/dirty I am when I sit on the sofa or no matter how drunk I am. Mind she knows she's onto half of nextweeks cold meat.
  9. 27 and a half have been for the past 22 years. It's great insurance companies luv us old codgers Should be even cheaper next year at 50 someone said they pay us. Here comes the e60.
  10. Had 6 BMW in past tried most other things but just not as well built or as comfortable that includes rusty underpowered Mercs.
  11. We bought a Peugeot 106 1100cc for my son aged 18 it cost 950 quid, he found Aviva was the cheapest for 3rd party at 1380 quid. It was the same the second year. ( he had pass plus ) He's now 20 and has now bought a 1.8 Astra convertible. Me and the mrs started a multi car policy with admiral, both saved dosh on our cars however the young yin got 3rd party for the astra for 930 quid. From what I can see its the car, also it helps to have a mature female on the policy as a named driver.
  12. Had a e28 528 exhaust was shot, and on back order. My mate had a stage one Harley which sounded great. So out came the chopsaw and mig. Off came the system and 21/2" pipe was cut shaped and a new straight through system was created. Reckon we should have altered timing/ fueling,it was ok of the mark ,could drink the juice and I don't think it sounded that great. Had it that way for only a few day before fitting a centre box. Valve would be ok tho rattle some old window frames now and again.
  13. Yuk a skip Wouldn't even get the piece ( sandwiches up here) in the back.
  14. 07769 974 858 this is a number of a gent breaking a 98, 728 on eBay. Doesn't have clear rear lights but pos. the other parts you need.
  15. Insurance companies are just a bunch of bankers. We are all paying for scams and hungry lawyers. Young people are being totally shafted across the board no matter how well they drive. Puting tell tails in cabs is out of order ( think how you did it at there age) Third party is the only way for young ones, cannt afford a claim. Many companies are doing multi-car policies, in my sons case it halfed what he was paying , which allowed him to upgrade.
  16. Mine is braw to but what about things like 840, 850. Anyone played with any of them.
  17. Had a shot of an e60 m5 last year, had it 2 or 3 times, it was fantastic to drive. I am a portly kind of chap so it wasn't the comfyst but performance made up for that. If I ever came into some serious dosh there would be one in the garage, but I think your right the e38 would be in the drive.
  18. What's the best BMW model you've driven
  19. More faults with the operator than the machine.
  20. Aye all match no chrome other than grill. Suspension better than I expected even for sport it can hold on for it's size.
  21. There is no replacement for displacement. Let the tree huggers use the leccy. More petrol for us.
  22. It's what I call stress free motoring comfort a wee bit performance and it looks good. Gearbox issue I think is box is down on oil. Was parked nose down quite a steep hill had a problem for about 3 miles . Computer warning of transmision malfunction came on however car sat for 20 mins on level, when i drove again I switched to manual, alls been fine since. Ramp booked for the morning so hopefully just need top up/ a wee service for the box if I can get a filter tomorrow.
  23. Hey what you know mine is a sport black head cloth wheels steering wheel and the log book. Got it right for once ( I mean me) thanks David . Just the gearbox issue to get to the bottom of. On Hols next wk will have to grovel to my mate and borrow a ramp. I was thinking my days of dirty finger nails were bount to be over buying a 7 series but hey ho. Had a 87 e28 528 for 4 years and only put an exhaust on it other than servicing. Must say when everything's right the 38 a braw thing to drive though.
  24. Hi wonder if someone can put me right on a coupe of things. What is the difference between a 728i and a 728i sport? I know that the gearbox fluid is supposed to be for the life of the car (handbook) But I've had a wee issue and am wondering, what oil is used, are there any filters in the box, how to check the level, and can I change the oil?
