  1. Hi all, I have the same problem. Bought a 2 series gran tourer in September, 27k miles 69 plate. Started having gearbox trouble in February, had a switch replaced which solved the problem for about 8 weeks then started again. Car won’t go into reverse and revs high in forward gears before changing. Now being told need a new gearbox at approx £10k. Considering I paid £19.5k for the car 10 months ago this is a massive gut punch. Garage did a software update to try and fix the problem and commented that the system shows the gearbox was reset right before I bought it which suggests an existing problem. I’m now waiting to hear back from BMW to see what their stance is on it.
