Update on the vibration … I’ve removed the front propshaft that goes to the front differential and vibration has gone.. does this mean it was the front propshaft that is faulty? Did this get bent when it come loose and went through my oil sump? There is loads of play on the joint on the spline end of the propshaft

The vibration goes when fuse is removed for the transfer case and when reversing with steering locked left/right there isn’t any vibration, also it has only rear drive when fuse removed from transfer case, this must point something from the front of the transfer box onwards or front of engine thanks

hi all,i fitted the 3 piece cowling today, it was straight forward to do,i dont think they will last because quality is bad, plastic is very hard like it will go brittle and snap again. holes were slightly off too, where they fit the middle section there is a gap in them were water will drip under on to engine, i was going to put some rubber sealant to stop the water, but i might need to remove soon to replace no.6 injector, looks better tho! found out under the cowling on drivers side is were the brake fluid tank was and passenger r side was the pollen filters!

Hi, anyone know if it’s worth updating the cic in my x5? It’s a x5 2011 40d also updating maps takes over a hour I’ve read? Should I stick to google maps on my iPhone ?? cheers

All everyone , I’ve got these faults on my bmw x5 40d n57 2011 471c - intelligent battery sensor missing had it on the car since I’ve had it- 8 weeks Also 49A6 communication fault the car starts fine on cold start but a little lumpy on acceleration until warm noticeably now since it’s turned very cold here like 3 degrees most days

Looks like it comes in 3 parts , off eBay for 26.99, anyone used these parts and know if they are any good as a non bmw part but will do the job?

Hi all, just to let people know that I ordered another actuator and fitted it with all the new cables to the wheels and emergency release to the boot, plugged it in and no handbrake light anymore , didn’t need to reset or program it.. it’s a pig of a job as all bits from under the car fall into yours eyes, I found it easy to leave the old cables where they were to help be know when the new ones were going , also make sure the cables go in front of the brake pipes when deeded cables around under the car, if they are behind the pipes the rubber grommet will get stuck and you can’t pull it through, I already had the old unit off and would say it took me about 3 hours to complete the job.. I jacked car up on rear diff with piece of wood on Jack and then put axle stands under each jacking point at the rear , removed Jack then.. chocked front wheels to stop roll..

Hi, does anyone know the part number of part name for the inside of the engine compartment bulk cover at back, mine is broke and let’s water into the top of engine , I’ve heard this can get into the injectors and make them go wrong thanks

Hi George. I’ve been checking the car since Monday and the water level has not moved off the yellow full mark in the expansion tank

Replace 1 , 6 injector as they look like the higher numbers ?

P.s yes smell to the smoke .. white on idle

Hi greydog, The engine was totally rebuilt as it had spun the bearings, new head gasket, was also skimmed, also it had a rocker cover oil leak so the gasket was replaced too, apparently it had new rings, bearings, new shells-picked up on the shells , new oil pump, lifters as he said they were stuck in, also he put a remap on it after for better fuel performance hope that helps a bit.. it definitely wasn’t smoking like that before rebuild, I went up road today again and when you flaw it the smoke stays behind on the road then no more smoke untill Next day start up ??
