Thanks! My friend has said that she has connected her iphone to the car's media system and can make and receive calls through the car's system, however the car does not possess the "carplayer" technology/module and as a result she cannot see her phone apps onto the car's in-built screen, so for example cannot use Ways or Google Maps unless she keeps looking at her phone's screen, which of course defeats the purpose. With "carplay" applications like Ways would appear onto the BMW's screen. So as I understand it, she needs some upgrade, software or firmware or maybe hardware? She is also trying to return the car.

Hi everyone, my friend bought a second hand, 2019 X1 a couple of weeks ago and realised it does not have carplay which is critical for her, she wants to have Ways and Google maps and other apps directly on the car's screen. Is there a way to have it installed? Is it a hardware issue or can a change of firmware help? many thanks!
