  1. Hi Folks New to group and wanted the worldly wisdom of other members. I am taking the family to the Alps soon. I have the 2017 320D X drive Shadow edition which I love. Of course with any resort snow can fall and we all know that even though its an X drive, getting started is fine but stopping could be a problem on the usual UK road tyres we use. The problem I have is the upgraded brakes on the shadow edition means a larger than usual disc and callipers. What would you do? 1) Buy snow chains for 4 corners but they can be a bore to fit 2) Buy a set of winter tyres and alloys - If so which ones do you recommend and size bearing in mind the brake discs on the shadow edition? 3) Chance your arm and hope it doesn't snow !!! Its always the last few hundred yards off the main roads that are where you get stuck. I have 2 weeks to get it sorted and don't want to leave last minute. Kids and wife in the car so safety first..............
