  1. Hello, Hoping for some advice until I can get to a specialist to investigate properly (and so I have an idea of the extent).. 2014 420d. A few nights ago I drove into a large puddle of water.. I was following the line of cars in front so the water appeared rather unexpectedly... All the cars in front made it through and the cars behind me did also.. Unfortunately I did not. The car spluttered and stalled around 2 meters from the end of the water. I tried to start again.. nothing. Other cars continued to go round me. I'd say the water would of been around a foot deep where the car was stuck HOWEVER the continuous stream of over taking cars meant that there was a constant 'wave' in the water meaning what was submerged would of got a steady continuous influx. The car wouldn't start and as I couldn't find a way to realise the electric park break manually, the battery drained whilst sat in the water for several hours awaiting assistance. AA recovered and brought the car home. Being during the holidays I've not been yet to speak to a specialist yet, yet I don't want lack of action to be an accelerator of the damage .... My question is.... The car starts. Ticks over. Some white smoke from the exhaust still but not excessive and a lot less than when the AA got it started that evening. However when I touch the accelerator the car splutters, exhaust shudders and pours water out. It doesn't cut out, however I probably haven't held the revs on long enough to give it the option. The AA recovery guys advice was to leave the car on and maintain around 2k revs to try "burn off" the water. So over the last couple of days I've had the car ticking over to warm up for 20 mins of so, couple of taps of the pedal to push water out but that is all. - I've not attempted to move it, and not held the pedal down. Is this the best advice in the mean time? Or is that potentially causing more damage? - Should I attempt to drive to the garage or would that be foolish before investigation? Thanks for any suggestions.
