  1. My word of the day; Isolation 😂👍
  2. Yeah, this is true Dave so unless I can get the Ecu dirt cheap and it was literally plug and play then I’d go straight for the remap. just toying with ideas as I’m going along atm buddy, I’ll see what I can dig up about the difference between the Ecu‘s, thanks again Steve
  3. I’m wondering if it could be done with an immob recode, as that would eliminate needing to swap barrels with the key as it would just rewrite the immob code between key and new Ecu-which I can get done for about 40-50 quid usually. Next question would be if the map would be different and if it would run on the same engine but in the SE and not the Sport... Ill go check part numbers and see if they are the same unit but different variants! That sporan joke had me chuckling btw bud 😀👍 Cheers again, Steve
  4. Thanks for the reply Dave bud. I thought immobiliser would have to be recoded so the key matches the Ecu, are each door lock coded too? And the msport 3 series comes up as 190bhp but using the same parts so i was assuming that the difference was down to mapping? just trying to be a tight ##### really so this was a thought more than a plan haha 😀👍
  5. Hi again just had a little thought, if I have a 2005 320d SE can I swap the ECU for an MSport one and expect to gain the mapping from the msport, upping the power? Thanks in advance! Steve
  6. Thanks Dave Ill certainly be trawling the breakers and salvage yards first, I’ll keep them in mind too bud cheers! As for the exhaust I’ll see if I can find anything around although making one up isn’t too much bother really thanks again Dave
  7. Hi again all! After some great advice from Dave I’ve got a few plans for the old girl, and wondered what people thought? not going for owt too drastic, and want to keep it oem bmw as much as possible. Typical bloke wish- I just want to tighten her up and get a bit more pace out of her... 😂👍 Plan is; Msport 3 series shocks/springs and brakes (maybe wheels too) 520d injectors (apparently a better option for remap?) Find some front seats from something (not important atm) Keeping engine standard apart from injectors(?) and remap, of turbo goes then I may build a hybrid to replace it and get an intercooler. egr blank and dpf removal along with possibly a new, better flowing exhaust later on down the line. What kind of intake mods would be advisable, just a panel filter upgrade or is it worth something more in depth? I hope I haven’t just done the token asked a million times thing, and if so I’d take no offence in being told that I have 😂 All the best Steve
  8. Thanks again Dave buddy 🙂👍
  9. Thanks Trevor im sure you will hear of their progress bud 🙂👍
  10. Thank you for the info Dave that’s greatly appreciated, and exactly what I need! Have a good day buddy
  11. Hi all, new member looking for some advice on pushing more power out of the 320d. The car in question is a 2005 161bhp model and I’m interested to see what existing parts from the bmw range can be used on the car to upgrade it-power brakes and suspension- I am realistic in that I am not building some kind of track car or whatever, I’d just like some firm suspension and trustworthy brakes, and if I can use a few parts to upgrade the engine along with a remap then I’d be seriously happy! Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated as I’m totally new to the bmw game but as a self employed mechanic I am supposing there’s a few bits I can grab before I remap her 🙂👍 Many thanks in advance for any she’ll, and all the best people!!! Steve
  12. Just popping in to say hello, new to the bmw gang and quite liking it-normally a fwd hatchback kind of guy lol Looking to extract a bit more power from the engine of my 320d SE with hopefully standard parts from the Bmw range plus probably the obligatory remap. I won’t be keeping the car prestige it’s there to be used, and go sideways when requested, or eat the tarmac laid out in front of her like a rabid English Bull Terrier lol 😂 But I will be maintaining her well as a mechanic and will probably look to swap out the seats and a few cabin bits as she is nice on the long hauls I can’t lie!!! Anyway, I’m rambling, hope you all have a good day and stay safe! steve
