  1. Hi, looking to see if anyone else who has a new X3 has the same problem! Picked up new X3 at the end of November, after a journies of roughly 80 miles or more when the engine is warmed up, when you stop at traffic lights, roundabout etc, fumes enter the cab. Car has only completed 2000 miles. These fumes smell similar to a heavy gear oil, which are very sickening after a while. We have had the car back to the dealers service department who have inspected it, found nothing and asked BMW technical if there is a problem and been told it is a normal new car smell, hate to think what a not normal smell is! Sales department are going to look into it as they have had a whiff of it and say it's not normal.
