  1. Hi Dave thank you for your reply. i was expecting some problem regarding the wiring as i keep getting random faults show up as intermittent but at random times without any symptoms. i feel i have a long haul task ahead of me to find the faulty connection but in my mind it must be an earth problem. thank you for your interest. I will keep you all informed what and where i find any bad connections. ll the best Tez
  2. Im thinking maybe i have a bad earth problem somewhere. any ideas?
  3. this problem happened over 5 hrs ago but now have just been out and it started as normal no issues ? time is 10.25 pm, strange.
  4. Hi Guys I have owned this 2016 ex police F15 30d for about 6 months. I purchased it as a none runner the car had been driven into a river and the water went into the air in take and locked the engine. I removed the head cleaned the bores enough with 400 wet and dry and loads of WD40 until i was able to turn the engine from the fly wheel. then i glaze bust all cylinders with a glaze buster until all the rust was removed. Rebuilt the cylinder head cleaning all the valves, replaced the valves seals. After I put it all back together and replaced to starter it started and run as sweet as a nut 🙂 until today, for some strange reason while in traffic the engine turned off the gearbox went into park and it would not start,,, the message on the dash said, "starter or ignition fault engine can not be started contact BMW" has this happened to anyone here? my diagnostic is showing 1 fault being that 1 glow plug is not the same as the rest! I have since put a booster jumper pack on the jump terminals under the bonnet and it started with the message "batteries discharged start engine" but the batteries are both fully charged! any ideas? Im confused but do not want to have it happen again. since starting it with the booster its been as it was before this happened. strange very strange. please any suggestions would be gratefully received. thank you
  5. thank you Dave the old cow is fine now lol 😄 and i had a big surprise in the boot after stripping everything out i found i have springs not air bags!!! must be a conversion so maybe need to find a way to remove the warning from the ecu?
  6. i have taken your advise and had someone on the gas while it was on the ramp and from the underside listening to all around the intercooler and pipes it seems to be fine and the noise is much quieter from there. but when i lowered the ramp and listened from under the bonnet the noise is very loud i have taken the air filter out and replaced it but the noise remains the same???? its to loud to pin point it.
  7. my recently purchased x5 was very sluggish after finding the fault (a vacuum pipe slit) since the repair the car now has all the power back but at about 2000 rpm there is a whistling noise and at 2500 rpm its a screaming noise . i have checked all the turbo pipes and inter-cooler. it only happens while under load when i rev it parked to about 3000 rpm you hear the turbo as if there was a broken pipe on deceleration (a wooosh noise) any ideas? any help would be gratefully appreciated.
  8. Hi i had a similar problem my recently purchased x5 3L diesel sport seemed very sluggish on inspection i found under the engine front cover a vacuum pipe had worn away on the underside and had a hole in it. it comes from the servo vacuum pump pipe to a vacuum tank on the drivers side then to the turbo boost valve. i replaced the pipe and wow what a change in performance amazing from such a little pipe.
  9. Hi Dave sorry for the delay in my response (wife has been in hospital) the suspension has not gone down it stays at to me looks a normal height. i have checked under the boot covers and found the big pipe that should go to the shock on the passenger side is disconnected i have no idea how or why but this weekend i am going to strip the boot panels out and refit the pipe and see what happens fingers crossed this is my problem.
  10. i have just purchased a 2001 x5 sport and some times the dash says that the self levelling suspension is inact but other times it works fine any advise would be welcomed when is shows the suspension is hard as nails but most the time is smooth as silk
