  1. So I've recently purchased a 2003 318i tourer and I've had a nightmare within a month, the timing chain guides have disintegrated. Leading to a whole new timing chain kit, rocker cover gasket, oil filter etc Got it done at an Indy, and that's £799 just there. Picked it up on Tuesday, been driving approximately 30 miles round trip everyday to work, mixture of roads and traffic conditions. Been driving lovely and no loss of performance Driving to work today (Friday) the engine management light has come one and stayed on. Amber in colour. Still no loss in performance and accelerates nicely. The car hasn't gone into limp mode. Will be taking it to get a diagnostic on Monday, hopefully they don't charge 😒 Any ideas, slight whiff of oil, but nothing major, and was just assuming was old oil residue being burnt off when the engine gets hot. Theres no fresh oil leak. Idle is just over 1000 when cold and just over 650/700 when warm. Thanks in advance I'm completely pulling my hair out. It's actually been in the garage longer than I've had it on the road and able to drive it.
  2. Thanks trevor! The forum seems great already, plenty of threads to dive in to and such a valuable wealth of information Cheers
  3. I've recently just purchased my first BMW. A rather nice upgrade from my pug 106 which I've had since I past my test almost 5 years ago. Being a poor student I didn't have a huge amount to spend and needed the extra room that a tourer offers. Managed to get my hand on an 03 318i SE touring.. Im completely in love already, the drive feels fantastic (compared to my previous car) and it's nice having the extra power 😏 I cant believe the amount of features you get with it being the SE model and for the money I paid it's fantastic. Its currently sitting on 138,000 miles and it's been well looked after and regularly serviced. Hopefully will continue to run smoothly for the considerable future. Theres a few cosmetic things I'd like to sort out, so my first question is about the front badge. It's faded, so I'd like to replace it with a genuine badge. Am I right in thinking that it would be the 82mm that would be compatible? Thank you in advance 😀
