  1. Incidentally, Flux Direct through Confused.com are coming out at £489 - without the 15% members' discount. Confused? I certainly am...
  2. Tried the discounted insurance from Adrian Flux for a quote. £540. Or I can go with Allianz for £281 and get a free "Brian" toy. Or LV= for 301 minus a (5%?) discount because I have another policy with them. To be honest, I'm quite relieved. My daughter is insured with Adrian Flux and her experence has not been good. LV= have been very good on my current motor policy &n life insurance, so I'll probably go with them. Just waiting to see if their renewal letter offers things cheaper - it should do as they don't need to pay commission to a comparison site, but we all know how they lift renewal prices and hope that you don't shop around... Still - it's all cheaper than the £2000 + that MoreThan wanted when I had an M3 (although Tesco came in at £700) Still, it was worth a (free) phone call...
  3. Looking on line for a postcode I found some worrying reviews for this car park. I phoned APH and they werenot prepared to move my booking to a more suitable airport car park. I have therefore sent them the following letter - I think it's self explanatory - hopefully I will be able to update here with news of a suitable conclusion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I refer to my booking made through the Institute of Advanced Motorists at “Jet Parks 3”. I was on line, looking for a post code for this car park, which I have not used before, when I read some very disturbing customer reviews regarding the self-park arrangement, potholed surfaces and a distance to walk to a bus stop carrying luggage. I have reduced mobility (but not a “blue badge”) and this car park would be unsuitable for me. Your web site merely mentions that there is space on shuttle buses for wheelchairs – bearing in mind the above this “Access Information” required under the Disability Discrimination Act is incomplete and insufficient. As it would cause a major issue if I was to wait until arrival at the car park to discover this, possibly even causing a missed flight, I attempted to pre-empt any problems by asking your call centre to move my booking to a more suitable car park bearing in mind my disabilities. Despite speaking to a supervisor, nobody was willing to do this, despite my long standing membership of the IAM and indeed having been a customer for over 25 years – going right back to the days of “Security Park”. I have made an alternative booking (your ref 12HYK) and I firmly consider that Jet Parks 3 has been mis-sold to me. Had the call centre been willing to change the booking, I would have been prepared to pay the difference – but I have had the annoyance of their inability to help, the time aspect of rebooking and indeed writing this letter, all while preparing to travel to an airport hotel. As such, I consider that I am not only due a full refund of the money paid for the original booking, but also a further amount for time, annoyance and inconvenience...
  4. I gave up MB ownership after being taken for a ride by the main dealer once too often. My X1 has a far better auto box than any MB I've ever had - smoother and far quicker selecting the right ratio.
  5. I'm back to BMW ownership after a few years on the "dark side" (Mercedes!) My last BMW was an E36 M3 Evo convertible which I loved, but finally it was replaced by an SLK. Collecting a black X1 M-sport on Monday. I've been wanting one for a couple of years - I like the elevated driving position, the seats, the dash and if I know that BMW are rewarding to drive with lots of "feel" and driver feedback. Looking forward to "Road Trip" in July, driving around the lower half of the UK and staying in a few different places - starting in Llangollen (canal & railway), Telford (Blists Hill museum), Barry Island (because I'm a Gavin & Stacey fan), Southampton (for a short cruise break), Lymington (Beaulieu), Isle of Wight and finally Milton Keynes (Bletchley Park) so that should be a few nice journeys... Don't ask me anything technical though - the bonnet stays firmly shut to me!
  6. A "can cam" is waterproof, battery powered, standalone and under £100. Surprisingly good for the money...
