DSC is nothing to do with the ride of the car, to put it simply when DSC is on it keeps the traction under control but put it off on wet or greasy roads and it will end up in you !Removed! yourself going round in circles.
Steve
Haha thanks Stephen,
as i suspected but good to have it clarified, i always leave it on but suppose if you wanted to "drift" etc that`s when it would be switched off? but think i`ll leave it as it is - the car is exciting enough!

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know the answer?
I`m not sure whether my DSC is working, the warning light on the dash illuminates when i switch it off, however the "ride" doesn`t change much - if at all,
I.E. the suspension doesn`t get softer but not sure it`s meant to.
Sound familiar guys?

I wish I could give you a positive response to this, Paul, but sadly I can't. I tried to set something up about this time last year for members in Dorset/Hampshire/Wiltshire and, including myself, had a total of 6 interested. There is a discussion proceeding at the moment about a National Meet being organised in the Summer in the Midlands, but only in the earliest of stages at the moment.
Ok Jeff thanks for reply,
Paul

Yep i always liked manuals until i discovered Auto, also now my wife is more likely to drive me home from the pub once in a blue moon lol

No prob. these cars really do run like a dream, fastest and most well-designed car i`ve ever had, feels like everything (except the seat belts in the compact) has been designed properly!
Enjoy that white smoke - you prob won`t even see it while accelerating away, lol

Give us a shout closer to the time and we'll see what we can get sorted. Any excuse to get together and im there.
Steve, see you have an auto, i would never want to go back to manual since i got one coupla years ago.
Stuck in slow moving queues used to !Removed! me off but not so much now lol

2003 318i e46 has been blowing white smoke...excessive oil use... Replaced EGR valve... Still blows some after sitting at a set of lights for a while :( any ideas why... Engines only done 145000
Hi Laura,
Think white smoke is usually water getting into the cylinder, poss small fissure in cyl head gasket between the water and cyl holes. is coolant level decreasing?

E46 auto 2.5l compact 51 plate approx 8000 miles only on the clock:
Oil consumption seems slightly high but no leaks and no sign of any cyl head issues, only really happens after a few kickdowns, is this normal on this type of car?
(It`s my 1st beamer and the best car i`ve ever owned.)
P.S. Is anyone else on here in Hampshire ?

Warning Lights!!
in BMW 3 Series Forum
Posted
Hi All,
I have a Compact on a 51 plate, the dashboard airbag light and also the rear light warning stay illuminated quite often, does anyone know any reasons why this happens sporadically rather than just staying on ?
The lights on the illuminated "car icon" (the one that shows if a door is open or a light is left on) , are they actually indicative of the actual light the fault is in ? e.g. n.s or o.s
Thanks guys and girls!
Paul
