Hi All,

After fitting bigger rubber i have noticed an amount of wheel wobble between 30-40mph. I have had the balancing re checked and it is correct.

Could worn track rod ends cause this? Maybe a bit of play in the joints?

Secondly, i have started to notice a "squeak" type sound from the back drivers side suspension when going over bumps, is this likely a bush or something similar.

Anyone have any ideas so i can point the mechanic guys in the right area?

Costly fixes?

Regards,

Rhys

Fitting wider rubber on her WILL give you a slight vagueness in the steering which you'll get accustomed to... It can also put a slight strain on the critical joints - mainly the ball-joints but, as for the noises, this may well be the anti-roll bushes or even the dampers... Best to jack her up and swing on the moving parts to locate the dry bush !!

Replace with Poly's if you have the cash, alternatively, smear with grease as the heat from movement/friction will pull it thru the bushes !!

HTH !! ;)

Well...

Brembo discs and pads fitted, but still no clearer on the rear squeak and the steering wheel wobble.

Garage say they cant find anything wrong with the rear suspension, and that the track rod ends aren't worn. Car is being re tracked, but other than that i am out of ideas.

Any further suggestions?

Are the wheels original and correct fitment, had an horrendous wobble on a 5 series after putting new replica wheels and tyres on, after extensive balancing, alignment even a visit to the stealers turned out that plastic spigot rings where missing and causing the problem, hope you get to the bottom of it nothing more annoying than a wobble

They are aftermarket ones, but they are correct fitment and ofset.

I still personally think its play in the track rod ends/ball joints as I can move the wheel back and forth when on the ground.

Think I have the rear squeak sussed, but the wobble is more worrying to me

Theres your answer buddy... But double check because you would "Feel" the slackness rather than see it... So best to have the front jacked and do it again ;)

The "Profile" attitude of the tyre (how FLAT the tread pattern is) will/can give some serious road-feedback !

Well poke me with a stick....it was the wheels/tyres themselves.

Put the originals back on and its gone.

BMW checked the suspension and all is fine with it.

Needless to say the wheels are going back

I Win... LOL

Glad you got to the bottom of it
