Hello,

This is my first EVER post on a forum, wouldn't usually do this but have nowhere else to turn to now...

I recently brought an F10 2010 520d which DIDN'T have the xenon package, at the time i didn't think i'd encounter these issues so i went ahead and brought it.

Firstly, i changed the halogen bulbs for a HID kit so i have the nice white light headlights. Then i noticed the angel eyes were not very bright and they never came on during the day on their own as i had dipped headlights on all day even though my lights were on automatic. Turns out, if you DON'T have the xenon package, then the day time running lights are just your dipped headlights which is pointless, the only way to just have angel eyes during the day is to manually have it switched to side lights on the light switch.

So first question, Is there any way to manipulate the software so it works the lights as if you had the xenon package i.e angel lights during daylight and then automatically switch on dipped headlights when sensor detects low daylight?

Second question, I have just brought the CREE LED angel eyes, does anyone know how to fit these as I can't find instructions or videos anywhere online for the F10 model.

Here is the item i brought: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271941333782?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT  - the advert does state it fits F10's on the search view not specifically on the advert itself so don't worry about this.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing everyone's replies.

Regards

Jav

The CREE LED's you have look like they have the holder part all built in and look as if they are just a push and twist fit?

Makes sense as the advert states easy to install however they have just emailed me.

Apparently i may experience canbus issues so they've advised me to go for:

MTEC F10 Angel Eye LED's

The HIDS-DIRECT site states:

*Please note Bmw F10 will require a a different variation to this model and will need to order MT-615 F10 H8 Marker kit directly from us.

Hi Javed, I'm in exactly the same boat as you (except mine is the Touring model) - wished I had the super bright Angel Eyes - how did you get on with the kit?

Thanks

Hi Gucci,

I went to a local garage who fit LED bulbs, for £130 they changed out my halogens for the bright LED's and it looks really good. The only issue is they're on all day as DRL's but that's another LONG issue lol

Ah, great, thanks Javed - so they can be improved then. And it was the MTEC F10 Angel Eye LED's you went for. Would love to see the difference. My Angel eyes are white, just not very bright.

No I didn't use the MTEC bulbs - I just went to a local garage which specialises in changing lights and they said they'd used a CANBUS kit. The angel eyes won't be bright unless you have the xenon kit. They are dim on cars that have the halogen kit like mine. That's why i changed my halogens for LED's.

can't get the picture to !Removed! rotate!

Whereabouts did you get your angel eyes upgraded from? Would be interested to know as all the places I have contacted thus far have said it's impossible to do it on the F10. Thanks

Hi - i got it done at Sound Studio based in Levenshulme in South Manchester.

Address: 848 Stockport Rd, Manchester M19 3AW

Phone:0161 256 1939

They just take the halogen bulbs out and replace them with xenons from a CANBUS kit with no errors on the system appearing. As you can see from the photos it's probably the best thing you can get for a car that doesn't have the xenon kit.

Hi Javed,

I also have halogen lights on my 520, and would love to change my angel eyes to the bright ones you see on f10's with xenon lights.

But i was just wandering did you only change your halogen headlights to xenon, or also your angel eyes. Because in the picture it looks like the angel eyes are still the same.

thanks,

Thomas

Hi Timus,

I only changed the halogen lights. The angel eyes are the same. No point cos it still looks sweeet!

Hi Javed,

Just wondering how you got on with the LEDs long term?

I'm an old git with a 2013 F11 and am struggling with the halogens and night driving!

If I understand correctly you had the LED bulbs fitted and a mod to the canbus? The dipped beam is always on?

Thanks,

Greg
