Just bought a 2000 728i with 95000 on clock but the readout is badly pixilated and some parts don't read out at all, can this be repaired or is replacing the only alternative

There are companies who offer to fix pixel problems. Not sure about the clock but have seen repaired cluster and MID fixes for reasonable prices. Ask in the e38 section of bimmerboard.com which is a lively board with lots of help available.

Any joy with this Alan? I have same issue. Replacement ribbons available cheaply for mid system but complicated to replace it seems. As stated above, there seems to be a company on EBay offering a repair service.
