Renewed rear shoes on 323 e46 and adjusted inside the hub but handbrake has to be right up to hold and the car won't do handbrake turns, any ideas why.

The E46 handbrake isn't the best, when adjusting I ratchet the hubs both up tight then take it back a couple of clicks, usually works fine. Did you replace the cable as this may have stretched.

As Lee has said, you can tighten that all ya want, if the cable has stretched past a certain point, it really won't make much difference.

I'm yet to own a 46 (too toooo new for my blood) but, on my 36s the handbrake could ALSO be tightened under the leather gaitor INSIDE the cab? Have a look?

BMW E46, Hand brake is poo anyway, 2... WHY THE HELL DO YOU WANT TO DO HAND BRAKE TURNS!!! you will break it. Its rear wheel drive, if you are that way inclined, use the power and the REAR WHEEL DRIVE!!.
