Hi All

First time owner - previously coming from Civic Type-R Ep3/ Mondeo ST 220/ french poo Megane r26.

didnt really want my first post to be a question related to a problem. Thought I would post here first as this was the very forum that lead me to buying a bmw 130 in the first instance. (thats a lie, it was this and another 2 forums).. hopefully get round to contributing and sharing some useless fluff that takes up everyones time in the future!

moving on...

It sounds like a belt/pulley/tensioner problem but listen to this video...what are your thoughts.

mainly happens when starting up, occasionally happens after starting up and driving for 10 minutes if that. During that noise, should I try to accelerate it feels like something is dragging it back.... currently at 62k, service due next month. 55 plate.

Lee.

welcome to the forum Lee -

yes it does sound like a tensioner or water pump bearing. have you checked the belt itself if its ok & tensioned on correctly ?

a way of checking would be get the aux belt of & spin the tensioners/pulleys & check for roughness/noise.

when the car warms up does the noise disappear ?

Usually that noise only happens at stArt up or within 15-20 minutes of use.

You will hear a rough ticking flappy noise occasionally regardless of how warm it is

Lee

Hi Lee welcome mate! :D

Hope you get your problem sorted!
