  1. Hi to all new subscribers to this site, nice to "meet" you. I have just bought my 10th BMW which is a 530D e61. Iv'e had newer and older ones, bigger and smaller ones (mostly 5 series though) as well as other cars like Saabs and Jags in between. But I always come back to a Beamer it seems. Nothing matches the chunkyness of the interiors or the engineering precision and newness of the drive, even on a high mileage car. I'm not a mechanical guy but hope to be able to contribute and network with other blokes like me when I could do with a bit of help. As a starter contribution, I saw a thread on asking the question on how to disable the alarm on an E60/61 for shipping or other purposes, which seemed not to find a solution. In the end I found the answer which is: (on an e61) the fuse box is in the boot behind the carpet in the fold down compartment on the right hand side as you stand behind the car. There is a map of the fuses behind the tool panel located in the boot door.It shows that fuse number 51 is for the alarm (only). Remove it with a pair of plastic tweezers and the alarm will be disabled. Not sure where the fusebox is on an e60, but I imagine it's still separate can can be removed. Hope that helps someone. Cheers everyone! Julyan
