  1. Hi I have a 2009 320d M Sport Touring with 85,000 on the clock that I have the insured warranty on (mainly for the timing chain issue on the N47). When I picked it up from my local dealer after a MOT this week I was told that I needed discs and pads all round with a quote of £920!!! Thought I might try my local independent so I was just wondering to keep the warranty valid whether I have to use a main dealer for work? I realise that I have to use genuine parts but was under the impression that as long as the work was carried out by a VAT registered garage and a invoice was given then that would be ok? After a phone call to BMW/Mondial I am still not sure. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Paul
