    E39 535I Faltering Acceleration

    Hi. Just bought e39 535i. It takes a while to pick up on half throttle. Goes like a scalded cat once it's decided to go but not reliable for fast decision making. I'm getting a gearbox whine too. Is there a link does anyone think? Thanks,Jack.

    Thanks gents. Looking forward to improving this car. Even with it's age and issues it still has qualities about it that surpass most of what I've driven or owned. I don't know why I've not owned one sooner. Jack.

    Hi. I've just bought a 535i. 1997. Reasonable history. Not bad condition but needs new brake discs and pads and several bushes and ball joints particularly at the rear. Could anyone please tell me where am I best sourcing them? I live on the Isle of Man , U.K.. Where can I find the info regarding what the parts are called or some sort of schematic /tech diagram/ workshop manual? I'm not looking to spend a lot on it preferably but I know it's a false economy fitting low quality. Any help gratefully received, Thanks, Jack.
