Not that I have noticed no. When the whistling is loud it drives fine. When the whistling is quiet no boost.

I am a new owner. And a newbie to this forum. I have a problem with the turbo on my x5 3.0 TD. It doesn't boost all the time and makes a whistling sound so I know the turbo is spinning. I hope I don't need a new turbo as that will be expensive. I am hoping and I reckon it could be a loose pipe or a hole in one of the pipes. Pls help.
