    thanks for replying, I had a garage put a computer on the car and that is what said it was a vanos problem, but no one can tell me actually what it is.... it tends to cut out particularly when changing down the gears... so any help as to what the acttual problem is would be great thanks

    hi any advice please engine keeps cuting ou been told that it is someting to do with the vanos? but local bmw want £72 just to look at it I am a student so don't have that sort of money, other garages don't seem to know what it is...help thanks
