Vibration Front End? Z3 1.9
New Longlife cat through to tip exhaust installed and the vibration has gone, must have been a dodgy mount or lose bracket/heashield

Vibration Front End? Z3 1.9
Car thoroughly checked over....no issues found Maybe a bit of heat shield on the exhaust? Did a track day in it on the weekend with no issues at all so all must be well. Exhaust is being changed soon anyway so this may dispel or confirm the heat shield theory?

Track Day In Wales?
Firstly, apologies if i am stepping on anyone's toes. I am booked in for a track day in Llandow circuit just outside Cardiff later on this month. Never done a track day in my own car, have done it in Ferrari's, Aston's Touring cars etc but this will be a first for me (will probably drive it more carefully lol) I was thinking how about a BMW track day there. The Elise owners club was there recently, so i know the circuit would be ok with us taking over. A normal trackday at the circuit is £80 and you are grouped by experience, insurance optional but recommended. Anyone fancy looking at something like this as it is ideal for the Welsh and anyone along the M5 to Bristol area isnt too far away either, so we could amass a fair few people? Regards, Rhys

Vibration Front End? Z3 1.9
Hi guys...got a weird one. There is a vibration at the front end on my z3....I think it's more passengers side. It only happens at 2700 ish revs and is more noticeable when coming down the revs and not on the throttle. The vibration can be felt through the floor and through the gearstick if you put your hand on it. Once you pass 2700 up or down the revs there is nothing. Any offers of what this may be...I have my theories but would like to hear your thoughts please Regards Rhys

18" Wheels And Tyres On Z3
Hi, You probably are experiencing what people are terming "tramlining" basically the car follows the indents left in the road and the wheels are grabbed almost by it. My Wife's mother has a cooper s and it is horrendous for it. I found it happened a little with my Z3, but adding the strut brace seems to have helped alot. Also i would assume the type, width and characteristics of tyres would effect it too. Im sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly. Regards, Rhys

Help Id Parts Please?
Hi all, I have a z3 1.9 140bhp version. I have some knowledge of under the bonnet, but not as much as it should be. I have fitted a bmc carbon dynamic airbox, etc, but need to ID some hoses to be able to fit my ecotek valve. I know people have mixed views on these, but i have one on my fabia sport and its definitely made a difference in mpg. in the attached pic there are two hoses visible, one in the foreground in front of the air tube, and one coming out of the back of the air tube running behind it but infront of the the throttle cable. Can anyone ID these for me please? If not, can anyone advise where i would find the crank case breather or charcoal cannister as i dont really want to fit it to the brake servo if i can help it. Thanks guys, humour me with my lack of knowledge lol. Regards, Rhys

Wiechers Strut Brace Z3 1.9 1999
Just bought and fitted one of these to my Z3. First impressions are very good. Feels solid and well made, slightly filed the end to clear the battery negative terminal, but other than that was an easy fit. Cleared the bonnet easily. A noticeable difference on turn in, car appears flatter with less roll (not that roll was bad before being honest) DC Performance were good to deal with also. If you are looking for a strut brace for the 1.9, worth a look in my opinion. Regards, Rhys http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/669491/BMW/wiechers-sport-strut-brace/gw067010.html

Track Rod Ends And Rear Suspension Squeak
Sort of mate, just attempting to extract a refund out of these buggers...going to be a hard effort i think.

Track Rod Ends And Rear Suspension Squeak
Well poke me with a stick....it was the wheels/tyres themselves. Put the originals back on and its gone. BMW checked the suspension and all is fine with it. Needless to say the wheels are going back
-
Track Rod Ends And Rear Suspension Squeak
They are aftermarket ones, but they are correct fitment and ofset. I still personally think its play in the track rod ends/ball joints as I can move the wheel back and forth when on the ground. Think I have the rear squeak sussed, but the wobble is more worrying to me
-
Track Rod Ends And Rear Suspension Squeak
Well... Brembo discs and pads fitted, but still no clearer on the rear squeak and the steering wheel wobble. Garage say they cant find anything wrong with the rear suspension, and that the track rod ends aren't worn. Car is being re tracked, but other than that i am out of ideas. Any further suggestions?

Track Rod Ends And Rear Suspension Squeak
Hi All, After fitting bigger rubber i have noticed an amount of wheel wobble between 30-40mph. I have had the balancing re checked and it is correct. Could worn track rod ends cause this? Maybe a bit of play in the joints? Secondly, i have started to notice a "squeak" type sound from the back drivers side suspension when going over bumps, is this likely a bush or something similar. Anyone have any ideas so i can point the mechanic guys in the right area? Costly fixes? Regards, Rhys

18" Wheels And Tyres On Z3

18" Wheels And Tyres On Z3
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I had all 4 tyres re balanced today jus to make sure and they are now balanced correctly. Haven't checked the tracking though as I assumed that as it wasn't pulling to either side that tracking wasn't the issue? The tyres arent anything special they came with the set, so maybe if all else fails x4 falkens might sort it? Regards Rhys

18" Wheels And Tyres On Z3
Hi all, I have come across a little issue with my z3. I have fitted aftermarket alloys and tyres to it. They are 225/40/18 fronts and 235/40/18 rear. I have steering wheel wobble between 35 and 40 mph. I have had the balancing checked, all wheels are straight, but I can't stop it. I have been advised to scrub the tyres in a bit more, but other than that does anyone have any ideas or have come across this previously. Your advice gratefully recieved, Rhys

Its is quick, largely due to the weight aspect. Got to sort out the rear suspension bushes though as the squeak is starting to get annoying lol
