I would have thought you would have heard a really bad sounding noise whist driving/starting if it was the timing chain? Could be some kind of immobiliser issue?

Hi Jon welcome to the club. I would imagine the sat nav for your car would be quite outdated now. May be better looking at an aftermarket replacement? This could give you sat nav and bluetooth for the phone?
