When Giving The X5 A Bit Of Stick...
If I put the X5 in sports mode and give it a bit of stick I get a strange smell in the cabin, not burning smell and not as though something is melting. Hard to describe! Is this normal in X5's / Diesels? Cheers

Three Weeks Till Bonnet Wrap
I was behind one of these the other day, sounded and went very well but MPG must be harsh!

X5 Series Owners
Interesting thread. I like the X5 but I have no confidence in it at all. With the issue I had recently with transmission it scares me to drive and have totally lost interest in it now it. That and the fact is has cost me a lot of money so to put right. If I had my time again I would have kept the Vectra VXR!

X5 Gear Transfer Box
£1500 how come? The bushes can be bough for £90 and front and rear ARB's are £20. What other parts are required? Take it there is a hell of a lot of labour involved!

X5 Problems!
Thanks for the input. Had to buy a new CD changer but its more or less useless. The slightest of bump and it skips.... as for the keys well I'm still retro and using the locks manually.

X5 Gear Transfer Box
I'm having a similar issue as well. It sounds bad over speed bumps as well. Prestige when you say swayarm bushes is this the front anti roll bar that you mean? I've had these fail on lots of cars and it sounds the same as what I'm experiencing now. The car also rocks a little when stopping at traffic lights etc..

X5 Problems!
Greetings all, I bought a BMW X5 yesterday and it has a few issues and wondered if anyone could assist: 1. The CD Autochanger just states "no discs" on the screen despite it having a couple in. 2. The car has rear screens in the headrests but these do not power on. Is there a master control somewhere? I presume these a factory fit as there is a TV button in the rear near the blowers. 3. The remote locking does not work. The guy said new batteries are needed but from what I gather the keyfob is a sealed unit so not possible to replace the batteries? Any advice would be greatly received! Despite the above issues still love it! Thanks Pepperman
