    Hi Topless. I have a 1999 Z3 (RHD) and both I and the car live in Bavaria. We are also members of the local Z3 car club. Although the club does not operate a forum it does comprise of many ex BMW engineers who have always proved both helpful and useful when I have encountered a problem. I will email a couple of them with the problem and see what they come up with.

    You may be right but I am still researching. It annoys me that I can not get these parts from BMW nor get them fitted by them. Have not given up and will talk to members of the Z3 roadster club Deutschland. Others must have come across and fixed this problem.

    There is a guy in Germany who sells the parts (€115 for two approx) but they are not original BMW according to my local BMW dealer. They also claim they are difficult to instal and a special tension tool is required. Will post how I get on with this.

    The door mirror mountings have corroded and need replacing. BMW want to replace/sell complete unit but this seems to be overkill. Is there anyone who provides / sell these mounting units?
