  1. Got it Dave, Thanks again for all your help. Could download look but couldn't print individual pages relative to my car.
  2. Thanks Dave, you certainly are a wealth of knowledge on BMW. I will look for the ground (earth) connection this weekend. I have the breakdown but even if I ordered a new one from the dealer at $985.00 it probably wouldn't fix my problem. After these discussions with you and the opportunity to see it work a couple times I fully believe it is something like the ground not very good or a bad connection in the wiring. It's just too bad with the media as broad as it is that BMW doesn't have more info on electrical systems available to us owners even on a purchase option. I can't even find a fuses function and location. Most other manufacturers do have them available.
  3. Thanks Dave, Interesting info and something else to check on. I looked for a connector release but couldn't see any. Also had the assy completely unbolted from the deck lid so any ground (earth trigger) connection except possibly in the harness itself which a wiring diagram, if I could get a diagram, would identify. I have a bid in Ebay for a used lock assembly. If I get it I believe it will make troubleshooting easier.
  4. The wd40 didn't work. I did manage to see the "soft lock function" work a couple times but was not successful to determine what caused it to happen. There are two motors on the assembly that obviously control the function. I was unable to disconnect the plug to either one. Couldn't determine what the locking function was and whether it required a special bmw tool. Wish I had wiring diagram of the lock assy including the two plugs for the motors. Can't imagine why the engineers used two motors to perform an identical operation on the same assy
  5. Thanks for the info Dave. I will tackle this problem after I finish the deck lid lock issue. I tried to download something on "realoem but my computer got locked up by a scammer. Got it cleared. Don't think I will try realoem again.
  6. I will give it a try. One more question, what should my oil temperature be? I am running about 240 degrees but no alarms. Thanks Dave.
  7. Didn't try wd-40 because my experience with BMW is zero. Any info on sensors location? I am a firm believer of wd40. I have the lock exposed so will try spraying first and if that doesn't work then will remove and be more thorough with the wd40. Thanks again Dave for the help.
  8. When they say "soft lock" in deck lid locking mechanism does it mean the secondary locking that occurs after the deck lid first attaches to the locking procedure?
  9. Thank you Greydog I have come to the same conclusion, if it's not a programming function. It seems before the problem occurred the trunk would close when I pushed it closed and then something would pull it further down into a locked position. I don't see that second movement now. I am going to order another locking mechanism.
  10. The rear deck lid will apparently not fully lock down causing a "trunk open" display on the dash and will not allow opening the convertible top. It is partially locked (as I can't pull it open) but it has a visible crack but doesn't come fully open unless the "open" button is pressed on either the front panel or the key fob. Please help
