  1. Hi everyone and Happy New Year. After did some further investigation I have managed to find some further information regarding the alarm. Turns out that the Hella Alarm was sold as an aftermarket product in a lot of motor accessory shops as well as being offered and fitted by some BMW dealerships. By chance I found someone selling one on Ebay Australia and I contacted them twice!! to ask if they would be willing to sell me a copy of the wiring diagram which I was happy to pay them for but sadly they never responded. I have attached a couple of photos so you can see what the item looked like. In the meantime I have been tracing the wires to see where they go and this is what I have got so far. Hn 1 x Brown wire to horn Hn 1 x Brown wire to horn 3 x pairs of Brown with Yellow Stripe could be lights and doors, bonnet and boot locks T+ and T - . 2 x Brown wires to MK (Master Key)? 1 x Brown with White Stripe S? 1 x Solid Red wire (30 or 31) goes into a loom maybe onto starter or battery but nothing direct to battery lead that I can see. Also nothing going to coil. Also checked an on/off switch located in the glovebox which I thought maybe the alarm arming operation turned out to be just for the light and a spare feed. I need to do more tracing and check around the ignition switch just in case there is something there The main reason for me doing this is because i read somewhere that these alarms can allow the car to start and then cut out the engine to prevent them from being stolen? Whether this is true or not I have no idea I just want my car to run again without cutting out!!
  2. I will do an update if I find anything
  3. Thanks Dave I will recheck my realoem and the classics section just in case I missed something
  4. Does anyone have one of these Hella 5aa 003 525-00 Alarms fitted to their car or know anything about how they work? I have looked on Wiki and checked a couple of manuals but I cannot find any information on them or what they do? If anyone has one and any advice on how to check it I would be most grateful
  5. Hi there just thought I would give you an update regarding my ecu. I sent it to ecutesting as recommended unfortunately they couldn't do anything with it as they said that that they didn't have equipement or tech old enough to test it with lol. They were very apologetic and sent it back to me. Additionally they didn't know of anywhere else I could send it to for testing but of the checks they did do they didn't find anything untoward. So it looks like I will have to find somewhere else or risk buying a second part either way a little bit frustrating.
  6. Thanks Dave I think they are based in Heanor was looking at them yesterday but I will check your link all the same
  7. Can anyone recommend somewhere for testing and fixing an ECU around the Warminster Trowbridge area please Don't mind posting if needed
  8. Thanks Dave that goes along with what I thought
  9. Any luck in getting information from your notes?
  10. Hi Dave thanks for the reply I am referring to the the Overhead Check Panel that sits up by the rear view mirror
  11. Just checking I'm getting emails lol
  12. Hi everyone Just a quick question regarding the overhead console computer as I cannot remember whether it should be All on or off prior to starting the car? I have fitted a new battery and I'm having blond moment lol (no offence intended). Currently prior to cranking the car over it is all lit up and I'm sure it wasn't like that beforehand and then mostly goes out during cranking. Not sure if I have to reset something so any help and advice would be most welcome.
  13. I will keep that in mind especially if I get a good discount lol!!
  14. Just found the absorber its called a damper similar to a fuel pressure regulator https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/BE30/BMW_BE30_FULFUL_pg2_fuel-pressure-dampers.htm BMW 3-Series E30 (1983-1991) - Fuel & Intake - Fuel System - Fuel Pressure Regulators Haven't found the other part yet and its not in their listings
  15. Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply and recommendation. I think I have tried Pelican Parts but I will try again just to be sure. My external pump is knackered and I do have a new one but I don't want to fit it until I know what the other parts do in case they need replacing as well. I think you are right about the Absorber and it makes sense even if we don't understand their terminology. In 1986 I had a V8 Rover Vitesse but loved the cossies too!!!
  16. I used the RealOem site again using my vin and I still get the same result Part 14 listed as a an Absorber which doesn't sound right? and Part 20 is listed as a hose? so any other suggestions would be welcome. Here is the page n question https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BA31-EUR-04-1986-E30-BMW-320i&diagId=16_0171
  17. Hi everyone I have just removed an E30 external fuel pump and I cannot id the attached parts (see photo) I think one is a regulator and the other is maybe a filter or accumulator? I checked the haynes manual and the on line parts page but I couldn't find a reference to them!! So any help would be welcome
  18. Hi Dave I have googled with little luck and I have just emailed Schmiedmann so maybe they can help
  19. I Does anyone have a copy of this workshop paget hey could ? I found this post whilst googling which has the exact same relay as mine but I can't quite read it and its not in my haynes manual http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/1052466
  20. Thanks Dave rechecked relay again today and must admit not totally happy with readings so maybe worth replacing sadly though I cannot seem to find one at a reasonable price lol!!! I did clean up straps and have been though with contact cleaner but will be glad when I have moved car to a more accessible place
  21. Thanks Dave its one of those 7 pin ones I will test with a multimeter but when in situ it does click in then straight out again but I would have thought that just running a link wire would prove whether the pump was faulty? Anyway no harm in re-checking. Are there any other relays worth checking out whilst I am at it?
  22. Hello Dave, Thanks for the welcome and for the very useful information. Yes a bit of a project which was running fine but just died for no good reason LOL!! I did the usual checks for spark and fuel and fuses. i have spark fuse is fine but I put a link wire on the pins 87b to 30 or 87 to 30 I have nothing. I managed to get under the car in the week and I could just about get to the wires due to where the car is parked at present and I had no continuity so I think it may be fault. Also internal pump check out ok
  23. Hi there, Could anyone please tell me the specifications on the External fuel pump for a 1985 320 I would guess its probably a Bosch just wondered what the flow rate was as need to replace mine also is that a fuel regulator bolted next to it? any advise would be welcome Many thanks
