If I buy a complete head, as the cams on mine look poor, are the cams different on this model i.e 218 bhp standard ?

I am torn between a head or engine replacement. I bought as is expecting it to be a simple head skim and rebuild. The engineering company said it was too distorted, which I was surprised at, as these units are pretty bombproof. I am sick of breakers yards advertising engines (at silly prices) with either no mileage, or false mileages quoted. If it was genuine, why not quote the VRM of the donor car so mileage can be checked via the VOSA website. TBH I struggle to find a helpful and courteous breaker (apart from Quarry) at all. I found a lovely low mileage 130 head on eBay, but different bores obviously. I may try a second opinion on the head, or perhaps sell as a project. The car is a great spec in impeccable condition apart from the obvious, and too good to break. Thank you once again for your help! Jim

Might be easier to buy a complete lump ? How is the extra m Sport bhp (218)produced? Is it the head , or ecu software?

We have an X3 M Sport 2.5si with a cooked engine. We sent the head to be skimmed and were told it was too distorted. Can we fit any n52 head, or is the M Sport fitted with different valves? Code is N52K B25a
