Finally got round to uploading the pics.... Can you see what I was getting at??

Close but no cigar, the rear ashtray in a compact is half that size.... Must remember to take a photo in the morning.

Hey, Was told I should poke my head in and say hi... I've got a 1998 E36 M43 316i, which is totally stock as best I can tell, except the radio... Oh anyone got a stock BMW Single DIN I could put back in it, the JVC that's in there is a bit crap and looks totally out of place! The car itself only has 49000mi on the clock and seems to be very good so far, did the O/S wishbone for MOT a little bit ago, told they're prone to fail on em. Only other foible is that the steering column squeaks... Have been told that its a bearing that dries out but cannot seem to get the grease in there well enough. ANYHOW, as I said, just saying hi!!

The reason I thought there was something missing is that if, god forbid, someone tried to put a !Removed! out in the ashtray all the ash would drop thru a gap in the base of it and set the carpet on fire... Not really ideal as I am sure you can imagine. I will upload a photo so you can see what I've got... failing that it'll be tracking down a whole ashtray, have seen a few on fleabay.... Hi, I have a E36 Compact and want to tidy up some of the rough bits the last owner left. I had a problem with the rear ashtray lid not staying down so pulled it apart and sorted out the mechanism. Noticed that during this that there is a little plastic fork at the bottom that flips up a little when the lid opens. I assume that there is supposed to be a plastic cup/tray that sits on top of this and I would like to replace it. Now if someone knows where I could get one it would be appreciated! Many thanks
