  1. Hello , I am new to the forum but wanted to ask if any other BMW owners have suffered damage to their paintwork ? I have a Sept 2017 430i Gran Coupe which has got extensive damage to the paint/lacquer on all the horizontal surfaces. The local bmw body shop say they have never seen anything like it before and their only explanation is that it could be caused by “environmental fallout “ This I find hard to believe and have never seen anything like this on any other car. The car is parked outside in a car park with some trees but the body shop experts say it is unlikely that tree sap or the like would cause this damage ! They tried a machine polish but it didn’t work . The cost of respraying all the affected panels is £2800. I have referred to the issue to BMW Customer Services and am awaiting their response but I believe that they should cover the cost of this as it is either a quality problem with the paint or else the car is not fit for normal U.K. weather exposure ! I would appreciate any other owners comments and experience. Thank you.
